Red Ore Works is a creative design and web development studio based in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. I chose the name as a nod to the historic copper mining and to reflect the rugged, raw energy of the region - and the work is no different. I help small businesses and independent creators build sharp, reliable, and distinctive digital presences that actually reflect who they are.Around here, a Facebook page is often the start and end of someone's "website." That might get you part of the way there, but a real site gives you control, professionalism, and credibility. My goal is to make that feel approachable. I design and build websites that are easy to use and update, based on your comfort level and needs. You shouldn’t have to email a developer to change your hours or add a photo.Whether you're a local business in the UP or a remote client across the country, Red Ore Works brings together design clarity, solid UX, and a flexible, collaborative approach, all rooted in years of experience and a deep respect for what makes a business yours.

Hi, I’m Natalie, the creator behind Red Ore Works! I'm a web developer, designer, illustrator, and general digital do-it-all. I built my first website on Geocities at age 10 and haven’t really stopped since. I studied game art and design in college while freelancing everything from law firm websites to a local pub's first site. Since then, I’ve worked as a webmaster, tech support lead, and a software engineer.I moved to the Keweenaw about four years ago, drawn in by the terrain, the solitude, and the chance to slow down and make things with intention. I started Red Ore Works to bring everything I’ve learned over the past two decades to local and nationwide clients alike - with an emphasis on clean visuals, practical usability, and a willingness to teach. If you want to update your own site? I’ll help you do that. If you want me to handle everything and just make it look good? I’ll do that too.Outside of websites, I've work in illustration, 3D modeling, animation, video editing, and tech support. I'm happy to hear about any project I could help with, so if your needs don’t fit neatly into one category, that’s fine. Neither do I!

Here's what I offer - from logo design to website builds, tech fixes, and creative solutions. These are baseline starting prices based on scope. Every project is different, and I’m happy to give you a more accurate quote after we talk. My hourly rate is $40, and I’ll never recommend anything you don’t actually need.Most small business projects land between $300–$1200 depending on scope, and I will offer bundle discounts where possible.
